Busy time
for me personally, not so much for sports. But I've not been updating. For those of you following, here's the latest news:
Basketball:
IU nabs second recruit for next season, up-and-coming 6-4 Victor Oladipo commits alongside forward David Williams. The guy reeks athleticism and plays above the rim. Also, Crean lets fans know about the latest news on the individual workouts, the good news is that Mo Creek is impressing everybody (and now that he's eligible, he can really help this season).
IU Football:
IU hung on for a narrow win against Eastern Kentucky, and looks to suffer through another tough year.
IU Soccer:
A rough start against great competition, with a 0-0 tie against St. John's and a heartbreaking 1-2 loss against Wake Forest. Although I've not watched all of the IU-WF game, the Hoosiers look like their old selves. Once again the Hoosiers appear to have a tough defense (although notably uneven against Wake), good possession control and transition attack (although Purdie doesn't have the speed or the touch to make defenses pay as far as I can tell), and the ability to generate a lot of shots (with very few goals to show for it). And boy, does Wake have some talented players. So far, Norman was all over the place. Hagedorn, who's not bad, couldn't handle him. But Alexander looked pretty good on our side as well.
Overall, tho, this is the team I'm used to in the Classic, and often these sorts of Hoosier teams end up in the College Cup. Here's hoping.
