At least it was a great tournament

It was a lot of fun.

I don't have a whole lot of time now to run my player efficiency ratings, or go over game-by-game and moment-by-moment the best NCAA tourney I've seen to date (disclaimer- that didn't involved Indiana), but I'll get to all that in a few weeks, after my classes end. Working full-time, family issues, and a heavy course-load is really taking it out of me. I am very thankful that I got to watch a good deal of NCAA basketball, because I hadn't gotten a chance in ages to do so.

I was a little surprised that a number of MSU fans (not my faves SpartyMSU or KJ of TOC, of course) were grousing about the rough play that Butler was allowed to get away with versus their team- even to the point of rooting for Duke. Say huh? You should be proud that your injured team did so well, and not complain about another team being too rough for you. MSU has done very well under Izzo by getting tough, so it seems sorta unbecoming to start complaining about fouls now. And c'mon, rooting for Duke? No self-respecting college basketball fans born or matriculating outside of North Carolina should ever find themselves rooting for Duke. Really, now.

I'm breathing a sigh of relief for the moment about the Hoosiers. They don't appear to be purging like Iowa, or threatened by NBA departures like Michigan (Manny Harris), Purdue (JaJuan Johnson), Illinois (Demetri McCamey), and possibly Michigan State. Let's hope for a little good news this offseason.

Go Butler, go!

When the first thing I see in the morning is the All-East coast ESPN team picking Duke, Duke, Duke for the win tonight, I can't help but really start rooting for Butler.
C'mon, Bulldogs- beat the Devils.

Hola, amigos

Been a while, I know. Life is getting in the way of obsessing over college hoops. Never thought I'd see the day.

I was incredibly satisfied to West Virginia beat down Kentucky, Michigan State return to the Final Four, and to witness Butler's stunning run. I'm not sure who I'll be rooting for on Saturday. Obviously, like all decent people, I'll be rooting against Duke, but MSU-Butler? Tough call, I like Butler's small-school moxie, but how can a Big Ten fan not love the thrilling wins that Izzo's hobbled club is stringing together?

This has been truly a great tournament to watch, the most enjoyable in years.
